HISTORY

St. Therese of the Little Flower community began meeting at Angel’s Prayer Book and Gifts Store in Lilburn, GA in a small prayer room on March 5, 2002.  Initially 16 people gathered and continued coming.  Needing more room, the community moved to St. Marguerite d’Youville Catholic Church in Lawrenceville on June 3, 2003, and still meets there. We became Canonical in 2017.  Fr. Kevin Hargaden has been our Spiritual Assistant since 2006.  We have been blessed to have him with us.

In community we are strengthened in study, sharing and friendship as we travel this road with Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, St. Teresa of Avila, St. John of the Cross, St. Therese of Lisieux, St. Joseph, and all the Carmelite Saints.   Their writings and their prayers fill us will a spirit of obedience in Carmel that accompanies us to the Trinity in faith, hope and love.

MEETINGS:

The St. Therese of the Little Flower community meets on the second Saturday of the month at St. Marguerite d’Youville Catholic Church, 85 Gloster Road, Lawrenceville, GA 30044.  We begin with 8:30 am Mass followed by Mental Prayer, Liturgy of the Hours, Social time, Business Meeting, Small and Large Group discussions and study.  Our meetings bring us together in community to share and learn from each other how to live as a Secular Carmelites by reading and discussing writings of the Carmelite Saints, Doctors of the Church, and required materials from our Oklahoma Province.

APOSTOLATE

Our community Apostolate is a yearly “Come and See” where we invite Catholics to join us for Mass followed by a presentation and a reception.  The” Come and See” invitation is advertised in the Georgia Bulletin, and local church bulletins.  It is scheduled in the month of April on the third Saturday and is held at St. Marguerite d’Youville Catholic Church where we have our monthly meetings.  Those attending get a chance to meet us and learn about Carmel.  They continue to visit our monthly meetings.  After some discernment, they are invited in our community as Aspirants.  We enjoy sharing our Carmelite Charisms and growth to our community.
